Gary Robert Tabor was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Albert and Eileen T Tabor on June 23, 1945. He was the oldest of five children and enlisted in the Marine Corps when he was nineteen years old. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” for heroic achievement. He graduated from Rutgers University with an MBA.
He was active in AA and the VFW for several years and touched the lives of many. He was an avid traveler and spent time camping and gold mining in Alaska. He loved to read, especially about history and science, and was very generous. He enjoyed skiing in Colorado and spending his summers in Upstate New York swimming and playing cards. He often quoted Star Trek and The Big Lebowski and always had a joke to tell.
He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Jenna (Matthew) Puccini; sister, Eileen P Tabor; and many good friends. A memorial military honors ceremony will be held at the Bath National Cemetery in Bath, NY on April 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the VFW (vfw.org).
