

Ina Mae Shirley was born on May 22nd 1947 in St Ann, Jamaica to Mr Winston Wilson and Roslyn Alexander. As a child, Ina was always attentive to details with a witty sense of humor. These qualities led her to embark on a career filled with adventure and planting positive seeds in society. Ina attended Bethany Elementary School where she excelled in her studies, graduating the first of her class. She then attended Alpha Academy in Kingston, where she further excelled in her studies Consequently, Ina decided to embark on the profession of teaching and attended St Josephs' Teachers College in Kingston. There she met her future husband Dr Neville Shirley, who attended Moneague Teachers College at the time. They got married in 1970, and their union produced three sons, Andrew, Creighton and Dwayne , now deceased. Ina Shirley then embarked on attaining a Bachelors Degree in Education from The University of the West Indies, Kingston Jamaica. She then emigrated to Canada with her family where she taught at various schools. After a few years, she returned to her homeland and pursued a career of excellence in Jamaica. In the 1980's, the family decided to emigrate to the United States where she decided to attain a Masters Degree in Education. Ultimately, leading to over 20 years of teaching in the United States. Her dedication to academia and teaching was extraordinary. Teaching was her "Life", and she impacted everyone with fond memories of life and zest. Ina Shirley was an "earth angel". Words cannot describe the lives she touched and the positive seeds that she planted. She was a mother, sister, father and a friend to everyone in her circle. Ina Mae Shirley was the epitome of Dignity, Integrity and Selflessness. She is survived by two sons Andrew and Creighton, her three brothers and two sisters, Winston, George, Sydney, Noeline and Olive, daughter in law, Jessie, neices and nephews Marjorie, Sonia, Lenworth, Ronel, Nigel and her granddaughter Pearl Noelle. Ina Mae Shirley was loved by everyone and her legacy of unconditional love and the International Mediator will live on Forever. Rest in Peace
