Sadly, our beloved Janet “Jan” Lea Wolf Witte, passed away on April 8, 2025. Born on February 14, 1945, Jan was known for her warmth, generosity, and the undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world.
Jan will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara Casey and her husband Chris Casey, as well as her grandchildren, Sabrina Lance (married to Zachary Lance) and Alex Casey; and her great-granddaughter, Georgia June Lance. Her family will also remember her with love: her Aunt, Darlyne “Dar” Whitman; her brother, Jim Wolf and his wife Debbie; her sister-in-law Shirley Wolf; her brother-in-law Tom Johnson, and all of their respective children and grandchildren. She is joined in rest by her mother, June, her father, Alfred, her brother, Fred, and her sister, Susan, along with many other loved ones throughout her life. With a family consisting of both blood ties and bonds formed from the heart, Jan's reach was as far and wide, and she was cherished deeply by many.
Among Jan's most significant accomplishments was raising her daughter, Barb, whom she held as her pride and joy. She served as a guidance counselor, mental health therapist, and an educator during her 40 year career before retiring from the Palm Beach County school system at age 60. After retirement, she used her education and gifts to help in the community, serving as a Guardian ad Litem for abused, neglected or abandoned children in the court system. She also volunteered as an educator for an Adult Literacy program in Palm Beach County.
Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity. While she lived gracefully and simply, she gave considerably and consistently to charities such as St. Jude, Wounded Warriors, Doctors Without Borders, Operation Smile, the ASPCA, Special Olympics, Make a Wish, Food for the Poor, Feeding America, Moffitt Cancer Center, and several others.
A Celebration of Life for Jan will take place on May 18, 2025, at the Delaire Country Club at 12:30pm. Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to:
