

John received his BSc (Hons) in Biophysics from the University of Western Ontario before continuing his education at Magdalen College, University of Oxford where he earned his doctorate in Biomedical Engineering (BME). Over the course of his career he authored over 100 scientific articles, and was an inventor on over 40 patents.
John spent over four decades working in MedTech start-ups, both academic and commercial. He was the Founding Chairman of The Ohio State University’s BME Center, Cleveland Clinic’s Department of BME and Oxford University’s Institute of BME. Most recently, he was the Co-Director of the Minimally Invasive New Technology Program at New York-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medical Center.
He fiercely loved his french bulldog, Blu, who accompanied him everywhere he went, including morning trips for cappuccinos and evening walks. He also loved to travel in his younger years.
John is predeceased by his father, John Frederick Cornhill, his mother, Jean Cornhill (nee Wallace), his wife Constance Cornhill (nee McKenzie), and his husband Robert Brigante.
John is survived by his daughters Genevieve Bulger (nee Cornhill) and Alexandra Braun (nee Cornhill), his grandchildren McKenzie Metzner, Madeleine Metzner, Jackson Braun, Cali Bulger, and JJ Bulger, as well as his brother and sister-in-law David & Megan Cornhill and their two children.
The family plans to hold a private memorial service in the near future.
