

He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1937, and spent roughly half his life in the NY area. Even after the 2nd 1/2 of his life in Florida he couldn't shake the accent or hand gestures.
From his years in the restaurant business and a mother who was a great cook, he had a developed a knack for cooking, which he used all his life especially New Years Eve.
The meatballs, the sausage and peppers, melangana, and the baked ziti, were just to get him warmed up before tending bar...cracking jokes all night, giving out big hugs and kisses to any of the many people he always welcomed into his home.
If someone were to ask his kids or grandkids who he was, the words used to describe him would be "funny, a real character, tough, charming, genuine, warm, and caring.
His wife Alice may say he was stubborn at times and loved to give her a hard time. However, there was never any doubt as to how much love they shared.
Whether from his classic jokes and stories, facial expressions, mannerisms, genuine nature, or talent in the kitchen, John had a gift for making people smile.
He was a great man. A man who served our country, a man who made sure the tree was full of presents at Christmas. He was a man of respect, tradition, and honor.
Some people say your family is your legacy. If that's true, John left a small army behind to carry on his old school family values.
John, may you live on through your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids forever. We will miss you, but will always remember you.
