
John Edward (Jack) Flanagan, of Fort Lauderdale, FL died peacefully at home on June 12th. He was born in New York City on November 9, 1935. He lived in New York state and then Connecticut until moving to Florida in 1992. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Bridgeport Police Department in 1991.
Jack leaves a beautiful legacy in his 5 children: John Flanagan (Barbara), Thomas Flanagan (Betty-Ann), Mary Jo Romano (Anthony), James Flanagan (Maura, recently deceased), Kathleen Flanagan, his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Karen, his best friend of 42 years. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores.
In keeping with his wishes and his love for the sea, his ashes will be placed at the Neptune Memorial Reef, 3 nautical miles off Key Biscayne, FL in July. A plaque memorializing him will be permanently affixed to the Reef.
In August, the family will attend Mass in his memory at Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake, NY. Jack was a kind, loving and engaging man and will be missed by all.
