Joseph Edward Brown passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 6, 1942, Joe was one of six siblings and lived a full life marked by love, service, and connection.
Joe honorably served in the United States Navy for four years, both in active duty and reserve roles. Following his military service, he began a long career in the hospitality industry in Chicago before eventually settling in South Florida. In the Ft. Lauderdale area, he transitioned to the home improvement industry, where he worked until his retirement.
Joe was a pillar of strength—steadfast, determined, and unshakable. Even in the face of illness, he fought with courage and grace, never letting it define or defeat him. Joe had a deep passion for football and boxing and was fortunate to meet many of his sports heroes over the years.
Later in life, he met his soulmate, Ruth-Ellen, and together they shared 24 years of a loving and joyful marriage. Joe was also a devoted father figure to Ruth-Ellen’s daughter, Brooke, and cherished his role as a grandfather to Santino.
Joe touched countless lives with his kindness, warmth, and unwavering support. He had a tremendous impact on the people around him—uplifting, inspiring, and always showing up with a generous heart. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him was truly blessed.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth-Ellen; daughter Brooke and her husband Lou; grandson Santino; nieces Carey Toner and Jori Arnold (with husband Dan and their sons Stiles and Aubrey); and many dear friends and extended family.
Joe will be forever loved and deeply missed.
