

Karen Marie (Bayler) Sapita, age 69, passed away on the Day of Our Lords Birth, Wednesday, December 25, 2019 in the comfort of her home. At the time of her passing she was in the hearts and minds of those she loved the most.
Born in Jackson, MI on July 7, 1950, daughter of the late George Donald and Audrey Hope (Grimmer) Bayler. Karen resided in South Florida since 1962, where she attended FAU, receiving her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. On May 23, 1981, Karen was united in marriage to Paul Sapita, and during their 38 years together they cherished family life and were true and dedicated companions. Karen had a passion for teaching students with special needs. She taught in the Broward County School System, Fort Lauderdale Christian School and Calvary Christian Academy. Karen enjoyed the outdoors, planting butterfly gardens and having an aviary. In the home she enjoyed cooking, homeopathy and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Karen home schooled her three children, was involved as a 4-H club leader and helped many special needs children. Karen attended Saint Maurice Catholic Church and St. Coleman Catholic Church. Karen was extremely active in the church community for 30 years, she was a liturgical dancer, and lector.
Karen is survived by her husband Paul Sapita; her daughters, Christa –Marie Sapita and Kara-Ann Sapita; her son, Paul M. Sapita; her cherished grandchildren, Rozlynn Hope Sapita and Daltyn Xavier Escarre; her brothers, Daniel Bayler, Donald Bayler and Joe Bayler; her Aunt Junie Bayler who is 97 years old; her cousins, nieces and nephews; Susan Powers, Jan Kiss, Marilyn Gamel, Christina Johnson, Susan Bayler, Joe Bayler, Tiffany Rooney, Kim Bayler Truong, Michelle Mayette, Johnny Mayette, Christopher Mayette, Amanda Sadlowski, Anthony Sadlowski and many loved great nieces and great nephews; her in-laws, Nancy and John Mayette, Carol Sadlowski and Mark Sapita; and her dear friends, Pam Ferrante, Helene Diamantara, Diane Larsen and Melodie Womble.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Karen's funeral service will commence on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00 at St. Coleman's Catholic Church, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
