In the garden, she wanders
Freedom has lead her here. 
She looks up and admires the clear day. 
Her bare feet sink into the thick grass. 
Rich soil seeping up in between her toes with each step. 
The air is warm and sweet. 
The roses are blooming everywhere.
She breathes in their welcoming aroma. Strong, yet gentle and inviting. 
She runs her fingers along their rich, red petals. 
They stretch out like red velvet through a field as far as the eye can see.
Glorious she says. 
The grass, like a emerald carpet, continues on until the roses are replaced with fields of wild flowers, bursting into a kolaidiacope of colors. 
She stretches her arms out, closes her eyes, and lets the warm breeze embrace her. 
She breathes in. 
She feels the strength of the earth beneath her and she feels safe. 
Her eyes are still closed, but she can sense a lighthearted presence. 
When she opens them, butterflies dance around her as if dancing to celebrate her arrival. 
They land on her arms, her nose, on top of her head. 
Fluttering about, as if they are rejoicing. 
Their happiness is infectious. She laughs. 
A pure, and joyful laugh. 
Her heart is full. 
She continues meandering the garden. 
Around every turn she is met with beauty.
With every step she grows closer to it’s nurturing essence. 
She sits beneath a grand oak tree, it’s branches reaching high above the earth.
It has a comforting presence. 
It’s life giving branches are home to many. 
A great protector.
As she settles beneath the shade, songbirds fill the sky with their symphonies. 
They too are pleased to be in her presence. 
They flirt about, entertaining her with their antics. 
She smiles at them. Content.

In this garden, she wanders.

Karen was a beautiful and giving person.  I wish I had met her in person, but got to know her through Paul and their family through the years.  Paul is a lifelong friend.  He and I met in elementary school and were housemates in our early 20s in Connecticut.  Later Paul moved to Florida and I moved to Hawaii so we were far apart in distance, but close in our hearts.  Karen and Paul were a beautiful couple and have a beautiful family together.  

I met Karen at our women's Bible study. Watching her courage and determination to fight through her situation is something I will never forget. My memories of Karen will always be ones filled with great respect and admiration.

Delight and pleasure to get to know Karen over the last few years from a home bible study. Her endurance and strength over these years during her trials and reliance in Christ is admirable. I Rejoice in the knowledge to see her again one day and that her pain is gone. She is with the Lord celebrating with Him. Prayers to family during this time of loss for a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, may God give you comfort  in the days to come and you feel His Love in a way more profound than ever before. Blessings. 

Karen was an awesome example of a prayer warrior for God, a caring teacher, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and an incredible friend. Her resolve and determination and love for life was an example to us all.  Her hands are now warm and her pain is nonexistent; her ultimate miracle, to celebrate Jesus' birthday in  His presence granted.  Karen always prayed for a miracle and God granted her one every day for years as the original prognosis of months became years, one day at a time.  Will miss your presence and your encouragement, but will always have your indomitable spirit as an example of daily grit and endurance.  

Karen was my best friend of 53 yrs.  She helped me settle into life in Florida in our Junior year of High School. Our friendship and sisterhood grew from there.  A stronger and more loving person I will never know.  We travelled in parallel roads during part of our life’s journeys as college roommates, sharing our experiences at St. Maurice, adult roommates, marrying our loving husbands, each of us having 3 children and sharing our love recently with grandchildren.  Karen loved her family so much.  Every year we treated each other to lunch on our birthdays and would bring each other up to date on all the “family happenings”.  She always shared how proud she was of all the accomplishments of Paul, Christa-Marie, Paul and Kara-Ann.  Words cannot express how much I will miss my friend and my “sister”.  Rest In Peace Karen, I will always remember your hugs and smiles.  I know that the family now has a very special Angel watching over them.  Karen will always be with you.🙏🙏❤️❤️. Pam

Although Joe and I are “once removed” friends, there was not a time that we were together that Karen  she did not greet Joe and I with her warm and wonderful, welcoming smile. We share a mutual best best friend.  What I witnessed was their life long friendship, more like two sisters than any could be,  a very special gift.  Karen just glowed when she spoke of her family... especially her children whom she loved so much.  I will always remember Karen for her kindness and loving way, a life nurturing others. Her strength and courage  just amazing.  And now at peace an Angel watching over and protecting those she truly loves. Rest in God’s arms Sweet Karen.  Liz & Joe Rega 🙏🏻

Our sweet Karen,  to know you was a blessing.  You were the person that brightened up a tough day!   It was a privilege to have you in our lives for 41 years.  First meeting when I moved to Fl.  In 1978,  teaching my son at Sheridan Elementary.  You and Paul attended our wedding.  You will be so missed.  
The world lost an angel that will finally get her wings.
