March 8th, 1960 – July 23rd, 2025
With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of Dr. Kenneth “Ken” Easterling—beloved husband, devoted physician, and remarkable human being—who left this world peacefully, surrounded by love and grace.
Ken lived a life of compassion, honesty, and quiet heroism. As a physician, he offered not only his expertise but his heart, caring deeply for every patient and often going beyond what was expected to ease another’s pain. His generosity extended far beyond his profession—he gave freely to those in need, without ever seeking recognition.
A grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Ken walked the path of recovery with humility and strength. He faced his demons head-on, and in doing so, helped countless others find their own light in the darkness. He believed in the power of redemption, community, and service. His commitment to AA wasn’t just about staying sober—it was about living truthfully, helping others, and making each day meaningful.
Ken was also deeply passionate about classical music, which filled his soul and brought beauty into his life and home. He had an incredible love and care for animals, treating them with the same tenderness and compassion he gave to everyone around him.
To his husband Diego, his partner of 17 beautiful years, Ken was more than a soulmate—he was a teacher of unconditional love. Their life together was filled with adventure, honesty, laughter, and devotion. In every moment, Ken showed that true love is found not in perfection, but in presence, acceptance, and unwavering care.
Ken’s life was a testament to resilience and courage. He lived with purpose, he loved with depth, and he faced his final chapter with dignity and peace.
He is survived by his husband Diego Cárdenas, cherished family members, his chosen family, and countless friends whose lives were forever changed by his presence.
We will celebrate his life in a gathering of remembrance on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 3:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale — a time full of stories, love, and gratitude for the man who gave so much, asked for so little, and left the world a better place.
