Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Mr. Roper lived in St. Andrew, Jamaica before migrating to Miami in 1978.
A graduate of the University of Toronto, he worked as a civil engineer, both in his native Jamaica and in Florida. Mr. Roper achieved lifetime membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers, held a Professional Engineer License and received his certification in Public Management from Florida State University. He retired from the Florida Department of Transportation in 2003.
Mr. Roper is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen Roper, Attorney at Law and daughters Natalie and Margot, son-in-law Kyle Carver, brothers Dr. Keith Roper and William Roper, Attorney at Law and several nieces and nephews, family and friends.
