

K.P. Kurian, who was also called by people close to him as Kunjunjappan was born to a traditional Christian family in Areeparampu of Kottayam District in Kerala State, India. He was born on October 6, 1924 to Mr. Philipose and Mrs. Aleyamma Philipose. His father hailed from Cholappalli Puthenpurayil family, and mother from Chennikkara family. He was the youngest of eight sons. He was married to Ammini Philipose, daughter of Mr. Parayil Philipose and Aleyamma Philipose, Ranny.
As a young man KP was a seeker of truth and found ultimate truth in the Lord Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to serve Him. To position him better for what he wanted to do in life, he moved his residence from Areeparampu to center of Kottayam town, near Manorama Junction. Hence he was called "Manorama Achayan" by some. Having passion for everything he did, he became an entrepreneur. He established various business and also pioneered the exporting of pineapple from Kerala.
His biggest passion of all was Christian ministry, to which end he supported various missions. He also found time to pursue his studies at IPC Hebron Bible School in Kumbanadu. He was instrumental in bringing the Assembly of God church to Kottayam. He was ordained as a minister when he was associated with the New India Church of God. He distributed Christian literature tracts regularly to the communities he lived in. This includes NYC subways, and the large apartment complexes in Sunrise, Florida and continued until few months ago when his health deteriorated.
He lived an exciting and adventurous life and lived life to the fullest. He loved collecting photographs of family members and enjoyed gardening. He had a strong faith and positive attitude at all times. He was a man of prayer. He was smart, opinionated and well versed in faith, social and political matters. He loved to travel and explore new places. He acquired many friends and prayer partners wherever he went to. In 1988 he and his wife migrated to USA to join his children. He first settled in Oklahoma, and was involved in various ministries through International Pentecostal Assembly. Later, they moved to the Bronx, in NYC and associated with different Christian churches and groups. For the last eight years he lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and were he was well known to the Kerala Christian Pentecostal Community and was active in the church.
K. P. Kurian is survived by his beloved wife Ammini Kurian, wonderful children Lovees Thomas, Solomon Kurian, Mercy George, Blessy Thomas and Philemon Kurian; his sons-in-law Daniel Thomas, C.P George and Kallara S. Thomas; his daughters-in-law Molly Solomon and Dr. Mary Zachariah Kurian; his grand children Sibyl, Rejo, Mable, Carol, Neena, Noble, Nelson, Jeenu, Jimmy, Janie, Serah, Elizabeth, Philemon Kurian Jr., Raoul; his great grand children: Isaiah, Ashlyn, Alana, Olivia, Jayden, Sophia, Ethan, Elijah, Nathan, Nicholas: and his nieces and nephews and their children in Kottayam, India, USA and all over the world.
KP had a fun loving nature and was always warm and emphatic to everyone he met. He left a lasting impression on the people he met. He was a blessed man: a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a father, a grand father and a great grandfather. He departed to his heavenly abode with assurance of heavenly glory and love toward his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He was a great Patriarch to his family and He will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he touched.
