Mary J. DeMars

Mary J. DeMars born March 22, 1921, in Pittsburgh, PA.

Fell asleep on September 2, 2011 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and awoke in Heaven with God, and with Frank DeMars her soul mate and husband of 59 years.

Mary and Frank started the family business Associated Factory Service in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1952. The business has been in the family for three generations and continues to prosper today.

We will remember the matriarch of the DeMars Family for raising her three children while building the family business from home while her husband Frank worked at the shop. In 1965 they moved Associated Factory Service to their new building in Oakland Park, FL .Mary and Frank worked there together for 35 years.

We remember Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas as being Mary’s favorite holidays. Her house was beautifully decorated. Traditional family favorites were cooked and served including her famous stuffing, turkey, potato salad, and apple pie. Together Mary and Frank cooked the greatest BBQ ribs and steak.

Mary loved hosting parties for her family. She greatly loved her family and adored every grandchild and great-grandchild. Having her house filled with children playing and laughing were her favorite times. In her last days she continued to ask "Where are the kids? Will they be here today?" She had many happy memories of family gatherings, and often said, "I am a very lucky woman!"

Mary enjoyed gardening in her yard, bird watching, and had the best orange tree that produced sweet and juicy oranges.

She is survived by her children Rick DeMars, his wife Dottie DeMars of Dahlonega, GA; Ruth Scott of Boynton Beach, FL; Ron DeMars, his wife Peggy DeMars of Coral Springs, FL; her sister Alberta Gerum of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren Rich DeMars (Min Su) of Cumming, GA; Jennifer Fisher (Tommy) of Montgomery, AL; Tina D'Agostino (Lou) of Acworth, GA; Heather Scott Larkin (Brendan) of Plantation, FL; Jesse Scott of Portland, OR; Donald DeMars, Jeremy DeMars (Stacey) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Kelly DeMars of Gainesville, FL; great-grandchildren Mindy and Maddalen DeMars of Cumming, GA; Joseph Tillery of Montgomery, AL; Claire and Alex D'Agostino of Acworth, GA; Ali Mormando, Kathleen and Jennifer Larkin of Plantation, FL; Jackson DeMars born September 8th of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful caregiver, Jennifer Lawson.
