I had the pleasure of enjoying Maryanna as a neighbor and friend the past 24 years, and loved every minute.  She was a true friend who would appear at my door with a big smile on her face and wonderful homemade desserts and soups! Oh,so delicious! 
It was a true joy to get her to tell her war stories and her younger days.
Maryanna was a delightful person who enjoyed life,  dearly loved her family and was so proud of each of them.
My friend, I love you, and surely  miss you. I know you are with Leonard and watching over all.

Grandma was woman who never talked the talk but would walk the walk. And for that she was someone nobody could dislike. She would make you cookies and mail them to you across the country with a sweet card attached. She would knit you blankets in all of your favorite colors. She'd have your favorite foods waiting for you if she knew you were coming (and BOY could she cook!) And, she never expected anything in return.

She was a champion at listening and never held a  negative judgment over her family. She was the silent rock who held our family together with her love. 

I am so sad that we have lost grandma in this world, but I am confident she somewhere else where she is young again, smiling holding grandpas hand, surrounded by family and pets lost, Puck, Sammy, Dutchy, all the cats I never met, (all of whom loved grandma and grandpa more than ANYONE else).

Don't have too much fun without us grandma where ever you are. I will miss you but we all will be together again before we know it!

Mary Anna & I became Fla. neighbors 17 yrs ago and friends ever since. She was a positive joy to know, independent, capable, humorous with a great laugh & lots of stories (if you could get her to tell them). I'd be away all day & come home to find fresh cookies, cake etc in my kitchen (our balconies attached). She had no time for aches, pains, dr visits or medicine, she felt healthy & capable & all the rest was a waste of time. Mary Anna was one of the nicest, kindest people I ever met, she didn't have bad things to say about others & if she heard it from someone else, she'd move on or change the subject.  I miss her terribly, loved her much & think about her everyday, but as she would say "you can't dwell on these things Sue, you have to keep moving on"

Maryanna Campi was an amazing woman and role model for me. Full of love, generosity and true grit.
Although she lived a quiet, coservative life, she seemed most always to live it on her terms. I met Maryanna when I was 22, a single mom trying to finish my college education with a 2 year old daughter in tow. She could have refused to accept me into the Campi family, yet instead embraced my daughter Michelle and me into her family without visible hesitation. Throughout the years (decades) she was always full of positive energy and a willingness to help out in any way she could.
I loved her so much! The respect and admiration still within me for this truly wonderful woman will remain within me until my last breath.

Grandma Campi.  Your memory will live on in my heart and your example of living a life as a strong woman, yet still a true nurturer inspires me every day.  I miss you & I love you.  You lived an extraordinary life & were so generous.  I think of you now, while I work my own kitchen, caring for my kids, your 3 great grandchildren, & I try to tap into your essence.  I admire you and everything you stood for, living with dignity & kindness.  You are missed.  

Maryanna Campi and I were verbal rather than social friends. I loved talking to her because she always was upbeat and never solemn or depressed and only had pleasant thoughts about life. I will always miss those calls.

I have known Maryanna Campi for over 30 years through her son Bob who became one of my best friends. Through this friendship I had the good fortune to become a part of the Campi family. Maryanna always treated me like family inviting me to family dinners almost weekly and making sure I had a supply of her home made chocolate chip cookies and strawberry jam. Maryanna truly a great friend. I will miss you!

May Gods love surround her and may she eternally Rest In Peace. 

I only met Maryanna once or twice, many years ago. My daughter Hayley and I were visiting with Carol and the kids--they were very young at the time. I remember Maryanna as gracious, warm and welcoming, and I felt instantly 'at home' some how in her presence. I'm so sorry for the your loss.

A Son's Thoughts
I lived with Mom for the last few years. And even as sick as she became, she always remained true to her indomitable, stubborn mom character. As such, she was more of a caregiver to me, her son, than I ever was to her.  
She hated inaction. If you were going to live, you had to move - so every Friday to the hairdresser and Saturdays to the Casino. This schedule continued up to that last Friday. That fateful day I would not take her to the hairdresser because of her intense pain; in less than 24 hours she died. Mom was not vain or pretentious, or a gambling nut. She just believed to her core that the motion of action was key to life. She cooked, she cleaned, did laundry, made her own bed, visited neighbors; all while the cancer was stealing her life force. You want to know the character of a person? Just watch them 24/7, under the most trying circumstances, with suffering and death an undeniable presence and near-term certainty. She never complained one time. I am so proud of my Mother; she raged against that cancer.
My Mom would chastise me now for my excessive emotionalism these last few weeks. But I can't help it - I have never been as strong as she. I have had the great honor of calling Maryanna Campi my loving Mother for the last 60 years. And now I can't help but feel like that 6 year old boy in the old family album, reaching up to grasp his Mom's hand, but sadly finding nothing for the very first time. Mater in Sempiternum!
