Pearl Scott was born on May 8, 1923 . She was the third of four children born to the marriage of Charles and Viola Thompson. Her older sisters Aldeen and Mavis , along with her brother Horace all pre –deceased her. She attended Swallofield Primary & Kingston Technical High school where she excelled in athletics . Her course of study at Kingston Technical was in Home economics, where she acquired skills in cake baking & decorating.
She migrated to New York, in the late fifties, and was employed as a clerk with Merrill Lynch, and later employed with landmark Bank as a key punch operator from which she retired.
She married Winthorpe L. Scott in New Jersey on April 17th 1997 and they moved to Lauderhill Florida where they became members of the church of the Atonement. Pearl was very active member in the church & it’s organizations such as Alter Guild, Daughters of the King, Cursillo, ECW, Arts & Crafts.
Winthorpe passed away in March of 1997 and she continued to reside in Lauderhill on her own and after a few year she knew she would need someone to help care for her and decided to move closer to her God daughter in 2007.
Pearl took the role of a Godmother very seriously and was involved in Heather’s life at every stage and milestone. She was well connected to the family and had a vested interest in her upbringing, spiritual and personal development and continued that way upon her death.
She is survived by her sister Olga Alfred, four nieces, three nephews, God daughter Heather and a host of other close friends and well-wishers to mourn our loss.
May she rest in peace and may light perpetual shine on her
Amen
