

In 1956, upon his graduation from The Wharton School, The University of Pennsylvania he joined Citrus and Allied Essential Oils, a company with fewer than ten employees located in Brooklyn NY.
Richard had a vision to transform the small company into a supplier of a broad range of high-quality essential oils and processed specialties for the Flavor and Fragrance industries.
Over the decades Citrus and Allied became a company with an enviable reputation and a global footprint.
In 1970, he assumed the role of President of Citrus and Allied Essences and held that position until his retirement in 2007.
Richard served on several Flavor and Fragrance industry boards beginning in the 1960s with Essential Oils Association (EOA) and its successor the Fragrance Materials Association (FMA). He was on the board of The Research Institute of Fragrance Materials (RIFM) and was a founding member of the International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades (IFEAT). For many years he was on the Executive Committee and served as both Chairman and President.
Richard became a member of the FEMA Board in 1978 and was elected President in 1989. He also served for years as FEMA’s representative to The International Organization of the Flavor Industry (IOFI).
Over the years he was the recipient of many industry awards honoring his lifetime of service.
Richard was an ethical and principled man, a man of integrity, and honor. And proud American who, as a young man, served his country in Military Intelligence.
He sang in the church choir, was a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher Grand Cross and an enthusiastic and accomplished singer and sailor.
Richard was a member of the New York Athletic Club for 65 years and a member of the New York Athletic Club Yacht Club. He was also a member of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club and the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club.
Richard was born in 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to Charles Pisano and Josephine Catalano. His sister, Phyllis Pisano passed away in 2022.
Richard is survived by his wife Joanne of 65 years, and his five sons, Richard Jr, Christopher, Stephen, Charles and William and their wives Teresa, Marianne, Sophia and Gina.
Richard and Joanne have nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Teeling (née Pisano), Christopher William (Will), Richard III (Richie), George, Charles Jr., Andrew, Alexandra, Stephen and Christina.
Richard was loved by ALL and will be missed by ALL.

A mass of christian burial for Richard will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Assumption Catholic Church, 2001 S Ocean Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL 33062. Following the mass of christian burial will be a committal service from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.
