My husband and I were so sad today when we went to the Holy Cross fitness center and saw the framed letter about Steve’s passing. We were out of town from mid January until late February. When we came back, we noticed that Steve wasn’t there, but we just thought he was not working that day. He is such an important part of our wonderful experience at the fitness center. He has always been so friendly and kind. Always something nice to say. It made us feel at home. When we read the letter, we both were just shocked. He was certainly a lovely man and had a gift with people. He touched our lives, and we will miss him and always remember him, gena hampton and David Kamerschen.  

I interviewed Steve in 2007 for the front desk job at Holy Cross’s Wellness Pavilion. I am so proud that I played a part in the decision to hire Steve as he brought sunshine and joy to everyone at the gym for so many years. He brightened my mood every time I spoke to him — one of the few humans I’ve met who could do that.
The world needs more Steves — now more than ever.

My name is Stephen McCoy. 
 Steven I had a close relationship we did things for each other I also did a lot of handyman stuff for him and I was always there for him when he needed something done. But most of all we would call each other a couple of times a week checking up on each other if I didn't hear from him I knew something was wrong or something was up so I would call and check up on him and he would do the same for me. He was always there for me when I needed to was there for him when he needed to chat or go somewhere. My heart aches of his passing and I now have a void in my heart My heart aches of his passing and I now have a void in my heart. It's going to be very unusual not hearing from him a couple of times a week just to hear his voice and get advice from him It's going to be very unusual not hearing from him a couple of times a week just to hear his voice and get advice from him  But most of all hanging out at his place going on the computer looking up things to do around the house.. We also enjoyed talking about the old days at the city of deerfields community merge response team.. All the great things we used to do for the city which now we don't do anymore.. I just hope hes putting heaven in order and He was greeted by all his loved ones including friends and family..
 Dotti this goes out to you if you ever need anything I'm always here just like I was always here for your brother Steve.  You guys were like a second family like a brother and a sister.. I always enjoyed seeing your pretty smile and your chipper attitude.. If you never need to talk I'm here..

This is a picture and a memory I'm never going to going to forget. We always looked out for each other,  working  after hurricanes in our great city of Deerfield and the state if Florida as friends and teammates For The City Of Deerfield Beach helping neighbors and fellow first respondes.. Now that Steve has gone up to the pearly gates Kelly Molinary will be up there to greet him  And show him around heaven.. 😥💙🫂🍻

I’m truly heartbroken to hear about my friend Steve passing away. Steve was a wonderful person. I met Steve when I worked at the Pier and we became really good friends.   I think Steve made such a good impact on so many people that we all feel the loss of him.
I got to meet Steve at the pier and eventually worked with him there for over a decade. He was always so good at talking to people and having helpful insight. He also helped me get my foot in the door of the career I have now and my life is better because of him.

I worked around Steve for 13years at the Holy Cross Fitness Center. We chatted often about baseball and although the Baltimore Orioles were always terrible he cheered for them and always damned my New York Yankees. We always had nice chats about sports and got lots of laughs in. 
I’m saddened to hear of his passing… His memory lives on for those of us who liked him and knew him.

My name is Cecelia Meredith. I have had a relationship with Steve since  the year 2000. I was honored to serve with him in CERT(Community Emergency Response Team) for many years. We had many adventures together outside CERT duties and when we were responding to local and state wide disasters/ emergencies. Steve and I worked together at the Holy Cross Hospital Wellness Center. He was a loyal and devoted employee of Holy Cross Hospital and went above and beyond his duties. He was well liked by the hospital employees and most knew him well due to his kind greetings to them. I was blessed to be a close friend of his and will deeply miss him. Everywhere we went he was always cheerful to others. I will never forget his kindness to me. May God rest his soul in heaven and give his family peace and consolation.
