

William L. Poulson III, 78, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 27, 2026 after a twelve-year battle against cancer.
Bill was born to Nora and William Poulson II. He attended Harbordale Elementary, Rogers Junior High and Stranahan High School where he was an outstanding baseball pitcher and was named Player of the Year for the state of Florida. He graduated from The University of Georgia, where he lettered in varsity baseball all four years. Bill was drafted by the New York Yankees, and played in their North Carolina league until he tore his rotator cuff.
Bill began his professional career as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch, owned the Galaxy Skateway, and was an entrepreneur who owned a number of other businesses throughout his lifetime. He was member of the Lauderdale Yacht Club since 1971, where he served as Commodore in 2009-2010, and the downtown Fort Lauderdale Rotary Club since 1982. Bill was an avid tennis player, enjoyed boating, and piloting his Piper Cherokee plane.
Bill was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, his son William (Jenny), his mother, Nora, and his sister-in-law, Bonne, as well as cousins and many dear friends who he considered family.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 16, 2026 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 901 NE 2nd Street, in Fort Lauderdale. Arrangements are by Fred Hunter funeral home.
