

Allan R. Gilstad, 65, of Fort Myers passed away suddenly on Monday, May 22, 2023, after a brief battle against Acute Monoblastic Leukemia. Al was born in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Clarence A. and Nancy (Cheney) Gilstad. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. Al has been a dedicated funeral service professional for over 40 years. He was the manager of Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home in Fort Myers, FL.
Al proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. He had a quiet and unassuming disposition with a keen sense of humor. Above all, he was a devoted family man. Al loved the Minnesota Vikings, hunting, and enjoying a good cigar.
On August 11, 1978, Al was married to Gail Turner. Together they had three children. Al is survived by his wife, Gail; daughter, Sarah (David) Walker; son, Adam J. Gilstad; grandsons, Bryson and Bentley Walker; brothers, Charles R. Gilstad, John R. Gilstad and David R. Gilstad; sister, Katie Grant. A daughter, Kari Amber Gilstad, his beloved dog, Gizmo and cat, Babydingo, preceded Al in death.
There will be a time to visit with friends and family at a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 3 – 4 PM at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919. A Celebration of Life will follow beginning at 4 PM. All are encouraged to share their memories and humorous stories about Al.
