

He was born on March 11, 1931 in Wakefield, Nebraska as the second son of Paul and Violet Dahlgren. Clarke graduated from University of Nebraska in 1957 and received his MBA from NYU in 1974. Clarke was a first Lieutenant in the US Air force, and ultimately worked for AT&T for 33 years. His final position at AT&T was Regional Managing Director of International Communications, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Since retirement, he has been active as the Chairperson of the Citizens Advocacy Panel with the IRS, assisted people with financial planning and tax preparation, and ultimately received the Florida Andrus Award in 2005 for his community service with AARP. He was a member and previous board member of the Forest Country Club, and an active member and volunteer at Zion Lutheran Church helping members with financial matters and serving on various committees.
Clarke leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Charlotte Dahlgren, 3 children, Debra Rowand of Davie, FL , Scott Dahlgren of Boxford, MA and Anne Shumaker of Indianapolis, IN, and 6 grandchildren, Alicia Butler, Brendan Dahlgren, Jake Dahlgren, Michael Rowand, William Shumaker and Carly Shumaker. Clarke was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elsie Dyer and his brother Dean Dahlgren.
He will be remembered for being a steadfast loving husband and father, making a difference in the lives of many, and his generous, sensitive spirit. He was a practical man who loved meeting new people, and had friends from all over the world, who admired and respected him deeply. His global telecom influence, land common sense thinking will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October, 18 from 5-7 at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33919. A memorial service will be held on Wed. October 19 at 11:00am at Zion Lutheran Church, 7401 Winkler Road, Fort Myers, Florida 33919.
In memory of Clarke’s spirit, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church, designated for the Clarke Dahlgren Fund for Financial Education.
