

Bruce was born on November 10, 1939 in Concord, North Carolina. He graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1958 and moved to Florida. He worked for Publix Super Markets and for General Mills. On September 3, 1961 he married Donna Peterson and they were married for 63 years.
He is survived by his son, Don and his daughter, Debbie Dittmar (Chuck). Three grandchildren, Megan Williams (Eric); Jacob Dittmar; (Michelle); Ashley (Hal) and four great- grandchildren, Maddy and Carrie Williams; Andi Dittmar; Charlie McLamb. His brother, Ralph Boyd; brothers-in-law Douglas Peterson (Paula); Dwaine Peterson (Shirley) and nephews Joe Peterson, Dave Peterson, Sullivan Boyd and nieces Terri Peterson, Lisa Peterson, Erika Boyd and Abi Boyd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Boyd Sr and Burley Boyd; his in-laws, Lavern and Jean Peterson; his daughter-in-law, Brenda Boyd; and his niece, Julie Peterson.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church serving in many capacities over the years. He served as a fire commissioner for several years for the Lehigh Acres Fire Control District. His passion was being involved with Kiwanis for over 50 years, serving at both the local and state level.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 9, at 2pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour prior at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Hospice or to the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund.
