Hi again, I’m Sandra St Claire, Elinore’s niece. I wanted to share a couple more memories of my Aunt Elinore. We both Loved Elvis Presley. When I lived in Ft Myers, back in the day, I bought Aunt Elinore some Elvis memorabilia. She always had “HIM” right by her recliner, not far away. Here in Texas as I drive to work and back every day, I pass by a mural of Elvis. Elinore knew that. Whenever we talked, I’d sometimes say, I saw Elvis today….she would laugh and ask, did you give him a hug from me? ……of course I did and we’d laugh. 
We also both loved gardenias. We couldn’t get enough of that aroma. When I lived in Hayward, WI, I couldn’t find any gardenia plants. Of course, Aunt Elinore sent me a gardenia plant. I was so happy. Every time we talked, she’d ask, how’s that gardenia doing? I planted it and it grew to be kinda like a bush.  When I moved back to Texas, I could take the plant/bush with me. I was sad. Through out the years, Elinore would laugh and say, wonder how that gardenia is doing in WI. 
If you can’t tell, I much my Aunt Elinore so bad it hurts ☹

Hi again, this is Sandra St Claire, Aunt Elinore's niece.  I wanted to share something else with y'all. Aunt Elinore and I shared our love of Elvis Presley.  When I lived in Ft Myers, I bought several Elvis memorabilia for her. She always said that it was right by her recliner, not far away. Here in Texas, on my work every day I see a mural of Elvis and always think of her. Aunt Elinore knew that.  Whenever we talked, I'd sometimes said, I saw Elvis today.....lol, she would laugh and said, did you give him a big hug from me?  Another thing that we both loved and that was gardenias. We couldn't get enough of the gorgeous smell. After I had moved to Hayward, WI, Aunt Elinore sent me a gardenia plant. When we talked, she would aways ask how that plant was doing. When I moved back to Texas, I couldn't take the plant/bush with me and lol....she would always say.....wonder how that gardenia is doing in WI. Aunt Elinore was always laughing. My dear uncle Eugene and cousin Ernie, 
I miss mom so much. Please know that if you ever need anything, I am here for y'all. I know there is an extremely happy reunion as Elinore reunites with her loved ones that went before her, her parents: Viola and Otis Burke, her in laws: Ernest and Olga Greuling, her  daughter in law, Josette and her grand daughter Christine and many many friends and neighbors that she loved and talked about all the time.  I am so blessed that my youngest daughter, Julie Arnold, was able to visit with Aunt Elinore, Uncle Eugene  and Ernie last Christmas Eve. A time Julie will never forget. More memories that I share here. I love you, Uncle Eugene and Ernie.

Hello, 
Elinore was my great Aunt but more than that, she was a mother to me.  We could talk about anything and everything and boy we did.  Every Saturday morning while Uncle Eugene and my cousin Ernie were out to breakfast with aviation guys, we would talk and laugh. I looked forward to Saturday mornings, because that was our time together.  Aunt Elinore loved to laugh. She was always laughing, and it was so infectious. I love to cook, and I was always telling her what I had just cooked or what I was going to cook that weekend. Aunt Elinore would then say, well I’m firing up my magic carpet ride. What time is dinner? We talked about our favorite foods and how next time we saw each other we would do a lot of cooking.  Some Saturdays I would pick Elinore’s brain regarding the family….the who what where and why. I loved it!!!! We talked about going through all her old photos together the next time we were together. Back in the day when I got divorced, I moved to Ft Myers from Texas. I so love Florida.  A few years later I moved to Hayward, WI. We both hated that. That ended up being a move I regretted.  We still back then were talking all the time via the phone. We both just loved the month of May. We both had birthdays in May, we had Mother’ Day and she and Uncle Eugene had their wedding anniversary in May too. Right before Uncle Eugene had surgery a few years back, Aunt Elinore said as soon as Uncle Eugene gets well, we’ll come to Texas and visit. Then life happened. I got cancer, then COVID and Aunt Elinore started having little health issues. All the while Uncle Eugene was getting better and better. I just can’t believe how great Uncle Eugene has recovered. That man looks and acts like a man in his early 70’s.  I was devastated when hurricane Ian hit Ft Myers last year. I couldn’t get ahold of my aunt and uncle for 9 days. I prayed and prayed and cried for their survival and wellbeing.  I was so ever so thankful when I could hear their voices again. 

My Aunt Elinore was beautiful soul both inside and out.  She was my best friend, mother and best aunt ever. I loved her so much and miss her terribly. May you rest in peace.

I was extremely grateful that Ernie was in Ft Myers and could help and take care of them.  Aunt Elinore said that she was so happy that Ernie was there for them and just how great a job he did taking care of her and uncle. Aunt Elinore and I talked and talked about the devastation and all the work that needed to be done on their house. It was little things that made her happy, like when she and Uncle Eugene went shopping for new recliners. She was counting the days when they could move back into their “new” house. Aunt Elinore and I talked about how once they moved back into their new house and settled in; I would come visit them. We were looking forward to that day when we could sit together and go through all the photos she had from back in the days and we could cook together and swap recipes. I am beyond words that we never got to say goodbye. I am so very heart broken. 
 Aunt Elinore, you’re in my thoughts and prayers daily, just like before. I know that all I have to do is call your name and you’ll be there, and I can still talk with you. Aunt Elinore, you were my best friend, my mother, and the best aunt anyone could ever ask for. I love you so very much and I miss you terribly.  Till we meet again, rest In peace.

Elinore will be solely missed, but not forgotten by her many friends and acquaintances . Elinore was very kind and generous, but valued her own opinions as well as those of others. My husband Don and I will miss dropping in just to chat with them, she always had a tall or two to tell. We remember fondly the time we had the pleasure of sharing her and her husband Gene's  company,  when they visited our home in Ireland. She kept many mementos and pictures of the visit in an album, and would share them with us and have a good chuckle over the  funny times we had. Elinore was good counsel and was not reluctant  to voice her opinion when she thought it was warranted.
She was devoted to her husband Eugene and her son" Ernie" whose achievement as a pilot she honored. Life must go on but it will be a poorer place without her presence. May God give those she left behind the strength to carry on, as she would wished them to do so.
