He is well known in the tri-county area for his construction projects and efforts to preserve Florida ecology.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Veronneau and survived by his four children: Simon Poirier, Anna Oberste, Paul Poirier and Michelle Poirier, as well as four grandchildren: Christopher and Jean-Pierre Oberste and Landon and Paul Poirier, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, June 22nd at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park 12777 State Road 82 in Fort Myers. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, June 23rd at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 2057 Cleveland Avenue, Fort Myers, FL 33901. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the church.
