With great sadness, the family announces the passing of our beloved Gary Keith Howard, who left us on February 11, 2025. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud veteran of the United States Military.
Born in Chicago on January 27, 1947, Gary was the only child of Ed and Violet Howard. Following his three-year service to our country, Gary continued his career at Teletype, which later became AT&T. Before he retired from AT&T, he worked as a financial consultant at the AT&T corporate office in New Jersey. He spent over 30 years working in the telecommunications industry and continued work as a financial consultant post-retirement.
Gary met the love of his life, Linda Guarascio, and they were married for 31 wonderful years and, as Gary would say, they “never had a fight.” They loved and adored three children Keith Howard (Susan), Scott Howard (Megan), and Nicole Fitzpatrick. Gary was blessed with six grandchildren (Chase, Cierra, Avery, Brooke, Evan, and Oliver) and one great-grandson (Caleb). Gary was a dedicated family man who was active in their lives and supportive in their endeavors. He was also supportive of Linda's family helping with maintenance, repair jobs, and supporting family events. He was a man of integrity, always putting his family’s needs above his own.
Gary's time at Teletype produced a family of friends that have lasted to this day. He enjoyed the social events and all the great people he met through work and company clubs. More recently he was a member of the Roselawn Generation Center as a hard-working volunteer and supporter of social activities. He was known for his honesty, kind heart, and willingness to help family and friends.
Gary served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. He attained the rank of E5 (Sergeant) and was awarded several honors including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and qualified for the US Army Sharpshooters Badge.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life. Gary will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace.
