Gladys Louise Whitson

Gladys is predeceased by her husband, Ralph Whitson.

Gladys is survived by her children, Karen (Patrick) Younger, Vernon (Berta) Whitson, Mark (Leslie) Whitson, and Matthew (Beth) Whitson; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her sister, Marion Young-Lucas.

Gladys devoted over 15 years to being a Licensed Practical Nurse. She also owned a furniture store with her husband in Fort Myers for a time, but her true passion was being a foster parent to children and the occasional stray cats. Gladys loved babies and was very devoted to the foster children she cared for. Gladys believed becoming a foster parent was one of her greatest accomplishments and one of her greatest gifts. Gladys enjoyed collecting ceramics at a local ceramic shop in Lehigh Acres. She also found comfort in her faith and her church community. Gladys was a beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

A visitation for Gladys will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913.
