On August 8, 1929, Bud was born in Westfield, Ohio, a son of the late Lloyd Gilbert and Bessie Marie (Moodispaugh) Young.
For 32 years, Harold worked as an assembler for HPM in Mount Gilead. After relocating to Fort Myers, Florida, he worked more than 15 years in maintenance at the Lee County Nursing Home. Later in life, he lived in Albemarle, North Carolina, before returning home to Ohio.
A man of faith, Bud was a member of the East Albemarle Church of God in North Carolina.
Harold loved woodworking and camping. He always enjoyed going for rides on his son’s yellow golf cart, and usually ended up taking a nap on that ride. While his kids were growing up, he enjoyed watching them play baseball and took care of the field maintenance at the baseball diamond in Edison. He had a green thumb and kept well maintained raised vegetable gardens.
Bud absolutely did things his way. He was normally a quiet man of few words. Occasionally though, he could be a bit cantankerous. He liked a good argument and could dish out a joke or two.
Left to cherish Bud’s memory is his son, Harold (Shari) Young Jr. of Mount Gilead; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to Harold’s parents, he was preceded in death by four children: Charlotte Young, Mike Young, Jerry Young and Ann Young; his second wife, Harriett (McCoy) Young; his former wife and mother of his children, Helen (Arnold) Young; and five siblings: Kathryn Bean, Janice High, Sonny Young, Kenny Young and Ronnie Young Sr.
In keeping with his wishes, no funeral services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Lee Memorial Park in Fort Myers, Florida.
