This woman was more than just a teacher to me. She was more than just a teacher to all. She played the mother role at South Myers high school. While her son Nick was in the same class as me and many others. She sure did love us all like her own children.  Janis was a mother, a teacher,  a leader , the spirit master of the world,  and last but not least the person that no one will ever forget. Her personality and spirit will continue on this earth through her children and all that she has inspired throughout  her life. 

 The Karkis family is in my prayers. I pray for strength and I pray for peace.  

Janis will never be forgotten! 

Janice was our “teacher” and friend and a creative force when we were all writing and performing shows at FDR HIGH SCHOOL IN BROOKLYN NY in the eighties. Countless hours and kind guidance and fun ,great fun she was more a big sister than teacher to our rag tag group of wannabe actors and singers, she believed in us ,she rooted for us and most of all she loved us. 
Very few teachers have that kind of impact.  My prayers for the Karkis family, Jack and her adult children . Your  Mom is a special women who made a real difference in so many young lives.
