Owens. Survived by siblings Robert Keefer (Bonnie) and Richard Keefer, Scott Ruhe, Donna
Furon (Marc), Lorisse E. Ferguson, Joseph L. Ferguson (Nancy), Beverly (Fergusson)
Scherrah, Charles A. Ferguson; children Dawn Owens, Wendy Owens, James Scott Owens,
and Jon Walker (Jacqueline); grandchildren Darvell Gibson (Nicole), Latisha Cook, Nicole
Edmonds, Dominique Owens, Stacia Morris, Charles Zachary Owens (Vanessa), Samantha
Ponder (Brendan), Madison Walker; great grandchildren Aniyah, Nyzier, Quinn, Rosie, Vlad,
and Penelope. Graduated from Windber High School, 1970, and University of Pittsburgh at
Johnstown, 1989. Judy believed in helping others and worked in the field of social work most of
her life, working with people with mental illness, intellectual disability, and child services. Judy
also cared about workers rights and was a shop steward for SEIU Local 668 and an organizer
for Local 1199P. Throughout her life she was a champion for social justice and civil rights.
Judy liked to sing karaoke, with an affinity for rock-and-roll and the blues. She acted in several
stage productions including one of her favorite roles as Wicked Witch of the East in the Wizard
of Oz. She loved Halloween, and loved to have a frightfully good time with family and friends.
We find comfort in knowing that Judy will reunite with those she loved in the afterlife. She will
be greatly missed, but always remembered.
