Words can’t express how deeply saddened I was to learn of Karen’s passing. My heart goes out to you all. As young moms and neighbors back in Fort Myers’s Shores, Karen will always be remembered as a dear friend and a positive influence.  We shared a love of Pampered Chef recipes and gadgets and craft fairs  . I still make quesadillas the way Karen taught me.  We still drink milk (mine has to be with Ovaltine!) with dinner the way the Bonnough’s did.    It was always evident that family and friendship were her priorities.   I am honored to have known Karen.

So sorry to hear this news. We played together as kids in Decatur Illinois. We lived a couple blocks away from Uncle Bob and Aunt Betty's house in Decatur on Clay street.  I have lots of memories of the Nalefski family and feel a great sense of loss for the Bonnough family.

Out of all the memories, lessons and things to be remembered for, you always wanted family to be prioritized. Whether it was attending our games, planning holidays, or simply hosting Sunday dinner at home — that was who you truly were, inside and out.

I just want to say thank you. Thank you for providing for our family, for showing us that there is no limit to what a mom can do, for always being there to support us, and for showing us what family is all about.

I was shocked and sadden to learn of Karen's passing.  She was such a a sweet and caring person that I was proud to call a best friend since our high school days.  Karen was soft spoken, kind, beautiful, funny, smart and loved to have fun.  I think the biggest joy and twinkle in her eyes were when talking of her kids and grandkids.  She and Gary loved them so much.  My heart breaks for Gary, Tyler, Brian and Cory and their families for this great loss.  
What an amazing person Karen was and what a remarkable life she led even though it was cut way too short.
I will forever carry Karen in my heart and pray to her to look after all the rest of us as she rejoices in her Heavenly eternity.  Rest well dear friend.

We are heartbroken to hear about the loss of Karen. Karen and Gary always made us feel like we were part of the family. My sweet friend, I am still in shock that you are gone. We were the Fab five and had so many retirement trips to go on. I will forever miss you. I never went to Florida without seeing you. Florida will never seem the same.  Your were the sweetest person. Would open your home to anyone, cooked for all. You loved the beach and like me could sit there all day! I will miss you so much. RIP my beautiful friend.

Karen was an extraordinary wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and so much more. It has been a true honor to have spent the past fourteen years embraced by her family and loved as one of her own. She was the mother I never had - a woman I deeply admired and will forever look up to. I am grateful for the unconditional love and warmth she shared with me and our children (Maverick and Penelope). I will miss everything about you your delicious dinners making sure everyone is happy  around you and most important how nice  and welcoming you are to everyone that came into your life. Karen was such a loving and kind soul! I met Brian my first day at FGCU, and Karen had me over for family dinner within our first 2 weeks of school freshman year. She always put others first and made sure us kids were well-fed and taken care of. She loved being surrounded by family and always had a smile. I never once saw her get angry. And she made the absolute best lasagna I have ever had. You will be sincerely missed, Karen. Love, Nick P.

This is such heartbreaking news, a real gut punch.  I've worked with Karen for almost 8 years and she was a such a pleasure to be around.  Always the utmost professional, everyone knew if there were ever any questions about anything Karen would find the answer.  If she was doing the work it would be done right.  

Our work relationship morphed into a friendship outside of the office and I truly enjoyed my time spent with her at festivals or concert getaways.

She was in her glory with the new little ones in her life and was just beginning to embark on what should have been the best years of her life.  There is a sad truth to the statement "only the good die young." 

I am so sorry for the devastating loss to Gary, her boys and their young families and her family and friends; my heart goes out to all of you.  She will be so missed.  Sending the family healing prayers.

I was so blessed to be friends with Karen for 50 years!  She was one of the sweetest people I know.  She was such a great mom to the three boys.  She adored her grandkids.  She was the perfect hostess on our many trips to FL.  Her life was too short.  I know that she and Gary had so many plans for the future after retirement.  There will be such a void in our friend group without her.  We take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and with God, her parents & brother for eternity.

In Loving Memory of my Mom,

It has not been easy losing my mom, who was so full of love, laughter, and light. Her kids and grandkids were her heart and greatest joy. She did anything for us and others.

She is still a guiding force in our lives and in the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her. Her kindness touched everyone around her and her warmth made every space feel like home. Though her time here was far too short, the love she poured into her family, grandkids, and friends will live on — in the smiles of her kin and grandkids, in the stories we tell, and in memories we hold. Even in difficult times, she faced life with courage and grace, showing those around her what it truly means to love without limits.

Karen, my mother in law, and grandma to our Levi and Millie June. Her warm, caring, and nurturing heart will be so missed. I loved her as a mom, but seeing her as a grandma was a love like no other.  She also raised three amazing humans- all boys and a husband to care for, and she made it look easy. I only wish I knew her sooner! Levi’s love of mouse trap and m&ms will live on forever, because of her. I know she’s up there listening to country music on the beach! Rest in paradise. 🩷

Karen, what a kind women. I met her when I was in high school and became friends with Brian. She was always so kind to me. She was always smiling and positive. I got a chance one day to taste her homemade cookies. I asked her for the recipe. Never got it but was often surprised with a batch when visiting. My condolences to her family and loved ones. She will definitely be missed ❤️

I am heartbroken to hear this terrible news.  I am so so sorry that Karen is gone.  She taught me so much from cooking to title to raising children.  Someone I could always trust and depend on.  I pray you will feel God's comforting arms around you.

I love karen so much. It is really sad for me to see her go. Thirty eight years we were together. We're married thirty six years. We raised three wonderful children who are now adults and we also have four grandchildren. Our life together was based on family. People should probably know that she was sick for the last 6 months fighting a breathing problem. Ending up back in the hospital again. With her weight loss and her sickness she felt like it was her time to go. It was her choice. She leaves behind  husband,three children,Four grandchildren, Four siblings. She loved them all and all of her friends. She had To be the kindest person I ever met. I will miss you so much. If you ever wanna see her again you better live a good life. Because I know she's in heaven with god. Both her and I believe this at the end. Rest in peace my love.
