Dr. Litchmore was born on August 16, 1950 in Allman Hill, St. Catherine, Jamaica, to Almira Hibbert and Melbourne (Babo) Litchmore. He graduated from St. Mary’s College, Above Rocks, St. Catherine, Jamaica and Newton High School in Newton, New Jersey. He earned his college degree from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and obtained his dental degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He then went on to complete a Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center and Queens General Hospital. Dr. Litchmore had a penchant for education and in later years went back to school to earn a Master of Public Health from Temple University School of Public Health.
On April 2, 1975 he married his wife Isoline Bryan Litchmore. They raised two sons Alonzo Antonio, who preceded him in death, and Brian, and one daughter Lori-Ann.
With a dentistry career spanning more than four decades, Dr. Litchmore launched his career working as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, Jamaica, before going into private practice. He immigrated to the United States where he worked with Philadelphia Health Department, Philadelphia Geriatric Center and Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry. He then moved to Lehigh Acres where he worked for Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida before going into private practice in Lehigh Acres, Florida.
An avid tennis player, Dr. Litchmore played until his knees told him to stop. He was quite knowledgeable about sports and was always engaging his patients in discussions. He was also a passionate photographer who displayed his work throughout his office.
Dr. Litchmore never met a stranger; his laughter was contagious, and always believed in treating others as he would want to be treated. A philanthropist and avid volunteer, he often took time out from his office to join volunteer dental groups with Temple University Dental School students in Western Jamaica where he treated patients who were unable to access dental care.
In addition to his wife, son, and daughter, he is survived by three brothers Norman Thompson (Marcella), Michael Thompson, and Conroy Thompson (Vanessa), three sisters Beverly Gibson (Nathaniel), Valrie Thompson, and Jacqueline Jones (Claudius), and a total of ten nieces and ten nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, parents, and brother Carlton Thompson.
