Marilyn Jo Tarvin, 86, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024 at the Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida after suffering a major stroke and long struggle with many health problems. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother and a strong and fiercely independent woman who was also incredibly loving and generous with her affection. She was admired and loved by many and her friends loved her great hugs, smiles and sense of humor.
She is survived by daughters: Deb Nord (son-in-law Chris), Susan Arnold (son-in-law Glenn), Diane Rogalski (son-in-law Tony), and son, Donald Tarvin, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Tillotson.
She had a large family who stayed in close contact even though they lived far apart. She raised 5 children primarily on her own while her husband, the late Richard Neal Tarvin, served in the Air Force on oversees deployments. She worked as a Produce Manager at Walls IGA in Wichita for many years and was proud to be the first woman manager in the stores history. She drove an 18 wheeler for a while after the store closed and had some fun stories to tell about her adventures. She was very compassionate and chose to get certification and worked as a private Home Health Aide for many years.
She found love again later in life with Donald Wallace who preceded her in death. They had great adventures together until his battle with colon cancer took his life and Marilyn moved to Florida. Marilyn formed many great friendships over the years and will be missed greatly.
Per Marilyn’s request there will be no service.
