Robert C. Miljus, 86, of Fort Myers, Florida died peacefully at home on Saturday April 4, 2020. He was born August 24, 1933 in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada to Mane Miljus and Mary Popovich, and married the love of his life, Marlene (nee Johnson) on August 27, 1955.
"Bob" received his B.A. degree from Augustana College in June 1955, his M.A. from The University of Illinois in June 1957, and his Ph.D. from The University of Wisconsin in August 1963. After working as the Industrial Relations Manager at Union Carbide Corporation in Canada from 1957-1960, he was a Professor in the College of Business at The Ohio State University from 1963-1987, University of South Florida in Fort Myers from 1987-1997 and was one of the founding professors of Florida Gulf Coast University from 1997-1999.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Marcella Romanyk, of Ontario Canada and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marlene, children Leann Miljus, Robben (Ivette) Miljus, and Tara Brown, and grandchildren Maxwell, Sampson, and Michael Miljus Pettit, Nicholas, Rex and Sera Miljus, and Chase and Chloe Brown, his brother Roland Miljus of Ontario Canada, as well as several loving nieces, nephews and their families.
Arrangements are being handled by Hodges-Kiser funeral home in Fort Myers. Details for a celebration of life will be coordinated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his name to the Zion Church Benevolence Fund, 7401 Winkler Road, Fort Myers, Florida 33919. A Celebration of Life has now been planned for Saturday June 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 7401 Winkler Road, Fort Myers, FL 33919.
