Terence Peter Starr

Terence 'Terry' Peter Starr, 83, of Alva, Florida passed away Friday, February 9, 2024. Terence was born April 23, 1940 in Southampton, England to Alfred and Lilian Starr; immigrated to the US in January, 1963.

Terry’s passion for flying and space started early in his childhood and he developed that passion further when he was put into a science track at school. He was awarded an HNC (Master’s degree) in Aeronautical Engineering in 1960 focused on mathematics, mechanics, and structures.

He worked as an Aeronautical engineer and spent most of his career with General Electric/Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works retiring after 39 years of service.

Terry loved working with his hands, working in the garden and flying. His love of aviation had him pursue a private pilot’s license which he received in 1984.

Survived by his wife Sheila Starr of Alva, FL with whom he shared 63 years of marriage; daughter Elizabeth Starr and her husband Mark DiMasicio; son Peter Starr and his wife Anne Marie Starr; granddaughter Lilian Starr; brother Richard Starr and his wife Patricia Starr.

The interment will be private. Funeral arrangements by Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
