
Charles "Charlie" Russell Fenimore, 96, passed away in his sleep into the arms of the Lord on March 1, 2025. Charlie bravely battled stroke induced dementia for 5 plus years. Charlie was born in Philadelphia on November 1928 and the family moved to Alexandria in 1935. After graduating Mt Vernon High School in 1945. He then became a Banker in 1947, receiving a degree from Rutgers School of Banking in 1964 then retired in 1992. After retirement, Charlie and his wife, Elizabeth moved to Vero Beach, Florida to be closer to family.
Charlie lived in the Alexandria/Franconia area for 57 years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Alexandria for many years. Charlie was a huge Washington Redskin fan holding season tickets for 47 years. He was very proud to have officiated High School football for 45 years in VA and FL. In 1996, he was honored to have carried the Olympic torch in Vero Beach.
He is predeceased by his parents, Russell and Mildred Fenimore, first wife, Elizabeth (Dennis) of 57 years and his second wife, Gayle (Stanley), sister, Audrey (Wright), and two grandchildren, Jill Ann Fenimore and Chance Fenimore Rivero.
Charlie is survived by brothers, Robert, Donald and Randolph Fenimore and “half brother” John Heene. He is survived by his children, Charles Russell (Rusty) Fenimore III (Colleen) and daughter, Martha Elizabeth (Marti) Fenimore-Rivero (Joe) with his first wife Elizabeth (1924-2007). Charlie had four grandchildren, Katherine (Adam) LaCoste, Patrick Fenimore (Amanda), Raine Rivero and Journey Rivero. Charlie also had 3 Great Grandchildren: Brady and Trace LaCoste and Madison Fenimore.
Gayle had 5 children and several grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Her daughter Lynn M Elliott and husband Bryan of Greeneville TN helped care for Charlie and Gayle while they briefly lived in TN before Gayle’s unexpected passing in 2022.

A graveside service for Charles will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 US-1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. Following the graveside service will be a reception from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946.
