Born in Cumberland, MD he has been a resident of Fort Pierce, FL for the past 47 years, formerly of Carlton, MD.
Duane was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II. Prior to retirement, he worked as a bailiff in the Washington DC courthouse after moving to FL, he worked for 5 years for Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach, FL . He was a member of the American Legion Post 40 in Fort Pierce, FL as well as AARP and was formerly active with the Oakview Baptist Church in Okeechobee, FL.
Survivors include, wife of 65 years, Margaret Bittner, of Fort Pierce, FL, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James E. Bittner and sister, Anna Margaret Parker.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, FL from 4:00-7:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, FL at 2:00pm with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Piece, FL.
