

Eugene (Gene) Gormley, 88, passed away on December 16th, 2023, in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was born in Edgewater, NJ on June 25, 1935. He was born to Veronica (Mitchell) Mann and Joseph Gormley. His family moved to Fort Lee, NJ where he attended Fort Lee Public Schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years Erma (Pollotta) Gormley; daughter Karen Gormley; granddaughter Abigail Eaton; and daughter-in-law Mary (Towle) Gormley.
He is survived by his brother Joseph Gormley and wife Bea of FL; children: Frank Gormley of FL; Patricia Eaton and son-in-law Art of NY; Joseph Gormley and wife May of PA; Lorraine Stead and son-in-law John of PA; and Gina Gormley Rosenfeld of MI; grandchildren: Daniel Eaton, Jason Gormley, Melissa McNeely, Tiffany Genovese, Jennifer Wood, Timothy Eaton, Adam Rosenfeld, Andrew Bischoff, and Alicia Formisano; and 10 great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Mason and Mack Genovese, Logan Wood, Amelia and Jackson Eaton, Elizabeth, George and Edward Bischoff, and Elias McNeely. Along with several nieces, nephews and friends.
Gene lived in Palisades Park, NJ and Cliffside Park, NJ before moving to Sandyston Township in Sussex County, NJ where he and his family lived for over 40 years before moving to Florida. Gene was a member of the Plasterers and Cement Masons Union, Local 29, of Hudson County, NJ, the Branchville Businessman’s Club, and a proud member of the National Rifle Association. He had his own business, Gormley Excavating, which he ran for many decades in Sussex County. He also was a State and Federal licensed firearms dealer.
In his spare time, Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, vacations to FL (before moving there permanently), and satisfying his never-ending sweet tooth.
A private ceremony will be held at a future date at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dementia Society of America, Alzheimer’s Association, or American Cancer Society.
