Having Mickey as my nanny from when I was barely 1 to 2 years old, I don't remember as much as my brother James does, but what I do remember are her hats. She would walk into our home in Florida with a bag full of them, and before we departed on our adventure for the day, I always had first pick of which hat I was going to wear. I carried this memory with me all the way until I was in my teens, for the last time I visited Mickey in Florida, sure enough she pulled out her still huge assortment of hats, signed the bottom of it, and gave it to me to keep. I still have that hat and cherish it greatly. Love you Mickey, rest in peace.

Mickey entered our lives when she was in her 70's as our children's nanny. Our good fortune was the result of our neighbor and friend, who also looking for a nanny, decided not to hire Mickey out of concern over her age. Oh what they didn't know and would later come to regret. At this point Mickey was just hitting her stride. She had endless energy and enthusiasm. When I visited her recently (in her 90's) she lamented the fact that her job at Publix had ended as it was phased out but added "I'm looking for a new job". Her pictures adorn our home and our kids college dorm rooms and our many fond memories will stay with us for a lifetime. We will miss you greatly.

Eva was my aunt, sister to my dad.  I have many, many wonderful memories of her while I was growing up.  I would spend summers at her home with Craig and Millie as my playmates while she and Wilfred tended to the Corral just down the street.  She was gutsy and fiesty and so full of life.  I always look to her as a role model of free will and determination in everything she did.  I love you, auntie, and will miss you.

Although I did not know Eva, I, too, am a resident of Vero Beach who grew up in Winchendon, Mass. in the 1950s and '60s and remember the Corral Restaurant from my childhood.

Eva, or Mickey as I knew her, was my first friend. I was only about 2 years old when I met her, and I think she may have been in her 70's. But that didn't matter because she kept up with me every step of the way. At the time, my favorite thing in the world was the sandbox in my backyard. Mickey and I would spend hours in the hot Florida sun moving sand from one corner of the box to another, constructing roads, highways, and parks (with just our imaginations and a little bit of sand). And when we thought we needed more sand, I would hop in the red wagon, and she would pull me to the yard in the neighborhood that was being cleared for a house and we would help ourselves to some of the white sand out front. Then we would run back to the yard with our payload, smiles all around. We would also sit out in front of the old Oak tree on A1-A, watching the trucks go by. If you pass by Seagrove, you'll still see it. 

Through it all, Mickey never skipped a beat, and I will remember her laugh to this day. It's rare for a child to have had that much interaction at such a young age, and I know for a fact that part of the person I am today is a direct result of Mickey. 

I am honored to have played a part in the life of such a wonderful and unique individual. Rest in peace my friend.

Mickey was my nanny for my 2 children starting with James at 6 months and then Natalie at 6 weeks. I remember the first day I met her.  She drove up in a big old Cadillac, walked into my kitchen and scooped James up out of his high chair like she had known him her whole life.  She remained our friend for the past 20 years never missing an anniversary or birthday card, when  we moved away from Florida many years ago.  I considered myself so lucky to have her in my life.  As a new mother with no family and few friends she was like a gift sent to me.  My 2 children now 21 and 18 still have "Mickey stories," and we never missed a visit to her home whenever we were in Florida, the last time, actually surprising her by just knocking on her door.  We loved her so much and will miss her terribly.  Our deepest sympathies.

Eva was an inspiration to our family & will forever be remembered for her kindness & friendship to my mother, Bertha Parrella. Her strength & fortitude truely made her a remarkable woman. Her love & devotion for her son & family was shared with us through the years. She will be missed & continue to be highly regarded in our hearts.
