James was born in Newark, NJ and had been a resident of Fort Pierce for 30 years coming from Middletown, NJ.
James served in the United States Navy.
Prior to retirement, James had worked as an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance in Red Bank, NJ for 25 years. James was a long time basketball coach for St. Mary’s Grade School in New Monmouth, NJ. James was socially active at the Spanish Lakes where he was an avid golfer and a member of the Spanish Lakes Golf Leagues and the NJ Bouncers. He also enjoyed playing cards and the arcades. He was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church in Fort Pierce.
He is survived by his sons, Michael O’Shaughnessy(Marta), of Vero Beach, FL, James W. O’Shaughnessy(Carol), of Mentor, OH, Kevin J. O’Shaughnessy, of Middletown, NJ, Terence B. O’Shaughnessy(Colleen), of Warminster, PA; daughters, Marianne Stover, of Hazlet, NJ, Nora Hanson(Bryon), of Middletown, NJ and 9 grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held 12:30 – 1:30pm with a Funeral Service at 1:30pm on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL.
