Robert Emmett Fitzsimmons was born on February 20, 1948, named in honor of his uncle Bobby, a World War II hero. Bob would go on to become a hero in his own right through his distinguished service with the New York City Police Department. During his career, he demonstrated exceptional bravery and was awarded the Combat Cross by Mayor Abe Beame following a gunfight in the Bronx.
Bob shared 46 loving years of marriage with his devoted wife, Judi Samuelson. Together, they built a life grounded in love, partnership, and deep companionship—a true match made in heaven.
After retiring from the NYPD, Bob pursued his passions, building a second career in acting and later in photography. His creativity and enthusiasm for the arts allowed him to inspire others, and he became a mentor to many who shared his interests.
For over 40 years, Bob called Florida home, where he and Judi created a vibrant life and formed lasting friendships. He touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and willingness to share his knowledge and talents.
Bob was a devoted son to his late parents, Madeline and Thomas Fitzsimmons, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judi; his stepdaughter, Kristen; his identical twin brother, Thomas Fitzsimmons, Jr.; and his sisters, Patricia Gatti and Carol Slaughter (Wallace). He was predeceased by his sister, Maureen Down.
Bob was truly one of a kind—deeply loved and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
