

FORT PIERCE, FL - Robert F. Gilman, 72, died on Dec. 12, 2014, with his loving family at his side. Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Ann (Collins) Gilman, and his son Jay, both of Fort Pierce. Bob also leaves his twin brother Thomas E. Gilman and his wife Donna of Monson, MA, his brother Timothy J. Gilman of Northampton, MA and his sister Deede Montgomery and her husband Bill of Barnegat Light, NJ. His brother David “Billy” Gilman predeceased Bob. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Ludlow, MA. He graduated from Palmer H.S. in 1961 and joined the U.S. Army in 1963, serving on active duty in Korea. After discharge from the military, Bob worked at Wright’s in W. Warren, MA; Strathmore Paper in Westfield, MA; and the U.S. Postal Service in East Longmeadow, MA. Bob and Barbara purchased The Boulevard Restaurant in East Springfield, MA which they ran for 10 years before retiring to Fort Pierce in 2003.
Bob loved life and, above all, his wife Barbara and son Jay. Bob loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Boston Bruins, Red Sox, and the New England Patriots.
Bob will be sorely missed by both family and friends. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held in Springfield at a later date.
