Rudy Petercsak passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026. He grew up in Astoria, Queens in New York City. The son of Hungarian immigrants Joseph and Rose, and younger brother to his beloved older sister Margaret.
After serving in the United States Marine Corp from 1946 to 1947, he married Margaret Arpino in 1950. A loving and devoted husband and father, together they raised two sons, Joseph and David in Astoria before moving to Floral Park, NY in 1960.
Rudy worked for Aeroflex Corp. on some very early space projects before joining Westinghouse Corp in the mid 1960’s as an elevator maintenance and repair technician in Manhattan, a job he held for many years and which he truly enjoyed.
He spent as much time as he could at his parents’ home on Northport Bay on Long Island’s north shore, where he loved swimming, fishing, boating, clamming, beach parties with family and friends, and helping his parents. He also loved his vacation home in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. He and Margaret also enjoyed many years as “snow birds” in Florida.
After Margaret’s passing in 2006, he married Lilette Fleck in 2008. They too split time between New York and Florida before eventually settling in Florida full time. They were truly devoted to each other.
Rudy was truly a wonderful man. Honest, hardworking, caring, principled, courageous, and loyal. He was always there to help family and friends, never asking for or expecting anything in return.
Rudy is survived by his wife Lilette; son Joseph (Michelle) and David (Peggy); grandsons Michael (Katherine) Dennis (Catherine) and Matthew (Marsha); 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews and friends. He was very much loved and admired and will be greatly missed.
