May 22, 1945-February 1, 2024
Steve Staples, 78, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024. He was born on May 22, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to his late parents Laurence and Mary Staples.
Steve was a kind, generous, loving man whose smile and laugh lit up any room he entered. He spent the majority of his life as a professional salesman who dabbled in various markets over his tenure. It was this successful career that ultimately led him to meet his wife, Kay. He took pleasure in traveling with her and exploring new places and things together. He was an avid Boston Celtics and New England Patriots fan and could be spotted cheering in front of the television anytime they were playing. Steve loved days at the beach and working in the yard. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy nightly and was always working on a crossword puzzle. At one time, Steve served as an usher at church and was an active member of Vero Bible Fellowship. However, his favorite role was being “Peepaw” to all of his grandchildren. They brought him so much joy! He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but take solace knowing he is reunited with his love and in the arms of his savior, Jesus.
Steve was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 32 years, Barbara “Kay”. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Ernie Bono of Ponte Vedra, Florida; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Jennifer Staples of Jacksonville, Florida; and his grandchildren, Sophia Bono, Joshua Bono, and Samantha Staples. He is also survived by his brothers, Jon Staples and David Staples. Steve also leaves behind a step-son and daughter-in-law, John and Dawne D’Albora of Vero Beach, Fl; step-daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Russell Thurston of Charleston, SC; and step-son and daughter-in-law David and Amy D’Albora of Vero Beach, Fl. He also leaves behind five step-grandchildren, Isabel D’Albora, John Ryan D’Albora, Ella Thurston, Lila Thurston, and Amelia D’Albora.
