It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Delbert Marshall Pasqua on December 29, 2020 at the age of 71 years. He was born in Fort Qu’Appelle, SK and lived all his life on Pasqua First Nation.
He was predeceased by his parents Stanley Pasqua and Clara Pasqua (nee Anaquod); his brothers Larry and Gerald Pasqua, his daughter Nadine McKay and infant grandson Zayden Dustyhorn.
He is survived by his daughters: Amber (Jeremy) Bruce, Savannah Buffalo-Pasqua, Joni (Kirk) Fraser and Jackie Gambler; his beloved grandchildren: Judah, Reid, Kylen, Khylie, Kenny, Kady, Zoey, Kesai, Kaleb, Danielle, Rory, Hannah and special grandson Kyro; one great-granddaughter Israel; his brothers: Donald (Pauline), Lindsay (Yvette) and Neil (Laurie); sister Karen Pasqua; his long time dear friend Brenda Sparvier; special nephew Delmar Chicoose; close friends James Horsefall and John Kahnapace and he had numerous family he considered brothers and sisters: Chicooses, Anaquods, No Names, Keepness’, Walkers, Kaisiwatums and others from Sweetgrass First Nation and all across Turtle Island.
Delbert was a jack-of-all trades and throughout his life he had many passions: traditional lifestyle, politics, history, hockey, family and his grandchildren. He dedicated his life to Pasqua First Nation and served as Band Councillor for 14 years. Delbert was very knowledgeable in Pasqua and its history. He worked very hard to bring some of that history home and succeeded when he brought the Pasqua pictograph home. In his last surviving years he served as an elder to many committees in the development of Pasqua First Nation. He accomplished many things throughout his life.
We would like to thank Pasqua Chief and Council, Staff at Pasqua Health Centre, and the home care staff at All Nations Healing Hospital.
