

The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Fort Qu’Appelle on Saturday January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Sharron Bodnaryk officiating. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mabel Ast, his parents, Frank and Marie, his brothers Frank (Marie), and Ralph (Irene), and one sister Ann (John) Johnson.
He is survived by two sons: Ward (Marie) Ast, Regina, and their family Jayme, Bryan and Kevin; James (Debbie) Ast, Regina, and their son Joel (Crystal) Ast, Calgary, and their family Hunter and Cassidy; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Edward was born at home on a farm in the Kronsberg School District, south of Dysart in September 1919. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at the outbreak of WW2, actively serving overseas until discharged in February 1946. In July of 1952 he married Mabel Barton and had two sons. He was a career farmer, who loved the farm life and actively farmed until 1993. He was a gentle soul who loved all creatures great and small, especially his beloved dogs, Mickey and Muffit. Edward and Mabel retired to Fort Qu’Appelle where they enjoyed socializing, playing bridge, bowling, and participating in Legion events. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to him and he enjoyed their frequent visits. Eddie lived life on his own terms, being a patient, non-judgemental and sociable husband, father, grandfather and friend.
