

Hawk was predeceased by his father Andrew Mecas; grandparents: Howard Mecas and Clara Mecas, John David Obey and Pearl Obey; uncles Joseph Obey and Gordon Obey and aunts Patricia Obey and Myrna Obey.
Hawk is survived by his adopted mother Brenda Obey; mother Anita Obey; sisters: Victoria (Dreyden), Alicia, Tenisha, Natasha and Cheyene; brother Gilbert and grew up with his close cousin like brothers: David (Yvette), Terry (Tiffany), Steven, Lee (Annie), JC, Micheal, Adam, Joshua and Evan and sisters Brittany (Josh) and Kaitlynn (Blair) and children: Nicholas H., Aiden T., David S., Natalia S. and Hawk Jr.
Hawk was born in Regina, SK on June 29, 1987 where he was raised until he was a young adult. He later briefly lived in Manitoba and traveled on the pow-wow trail for quite a few years. Hawk enjoyed life on the pow-wow trail and danced Men’s Fancy. He loved to bead, update or make new pow-wow outfits for himself. Hawk had great love for all his children, he always talked about them and loved to show their photos.
A wake will be held in Chief Ben Pasqua Memorial Hall, Pasqua First Nation on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral will take place in the same location on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Elder Brandy Neapetung, followed by the interment in Asham Beach Cemetery on Pasqua First Nation. The pallbearers will be: Terry Obey, Steve Thomas, Lee Obey, JC Obey, Dreyden Yuzicappi and Trevor Pasqua.
