Robert Thomas Smith

October 30, 1975 - September 10, 2017

It is with broken hearts and profound gratitude we say good bye to our beloved son, nephew, cousin, colleague and friend who passed away unexpectedly at his home in Shaunavon. Bob was a much respected and loved teacher at Shaunavon High School beginning his 18th year of service. He was born in Regina and raised on the family farm near Abernethy, attended school in both Abernethy and Balcarres and attended the Education Faculty, University of Regina. Bob's passions were his love of teaching his students, stretching their boundaries of knowledge of past and present history that included the Shaunavon Travel Club with trips abroad; traveling throughout the world continuing his learning and self-education; all sports that included the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, the golf greens of Shaunavon; his faithful friend and companion Cooper the chocolate Lab; big game hunting and fishing; his considerate care for his parents, cousins and families, uncles and aunts, teaching colleagues and childhood public and high school friends.

Bob is survived by parents Stan and Audrey Smith (Hartall), Balcarres; Uncle Les and Aunt Margaret Smith, Katepwa; Aunt Jean Smith, Balcarres; Cousins Paul and Susan Smith (Matthew, Rachelle, Stephen), Abernethy; Melonee and Michael Rose (Joshua, Emma), Calgary; Uncle Doug and Aunt Sharon Hartall (Glenda, Bryan), Regina; Aunt Wanda Hartall (Cathy, Nancy, Blain), Calgary. Bob's family gives deepest thanks to Bob's colleagues, family and friends for the outpouring of care and support offered at this time of grief.

A service of remembrance will be held in the Balcarres Lions Hall, Balcarres, SK on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian R. Mee officiating. Cremation with interment in Abernethy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be made to The Bobby Smith Scholarship, Shaunavon High School, Box 1148, Shaunavon, SK S0N 2M0.
