Born in the quiet prairie town of Maymont, Saskatchewan, to Alice and Russell Johnston. Arnold’s journey began under wide skies and open fields, places that shaped his steady spirit and generous heart. For 61 years, he shared a life of devotion with his beloved wife, Shirley. Together they built a home grounded in love, kinship, and enduring friendship. Their life blossomed through their children—Tammy McIsaac (Alan), Cindy Melnychuk (Rick), and Calvin Johnston (Polly)—and later through the joy of six grandchildren who brought Arnold endless pride and delight.
He is lovingly remembered by four sisters and one brother, and reunited with one sister who passed before him.
Arnold will be cherished for his unfailing kindness, his calm and reassuring presence, and his love for good conversation and shared laughter. His generous spirit touched many lives, and his legacy of warmth will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service in Arnold’s honor will be held on January 16, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. First Memorial Funeral Services – Riverview Chapel Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
