

It is with immense sadness that we say goodbye to our wife, Mother, Granny, Sister and Auntie today.
Ethel passed away peacefully at the young age of 71 years, after a long battle with illness. She leaves behind, Jerry, her husband of 46 years; her 2 daughters, Sonja Pemberton and "Kristy" Kristine Boyd; their husbands, Craig Pemberton and Dale Boyd; her grandchildren, Dustin, Cody, Devin, Marisa, Alnnalyse, and Tate; her sisters and brothers, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. she was preceded by her father, James McFarlane, mother Elsie Hoffe and stepfather, Bill Hoffe. Ethel was an amazing woman with a heart after God. She loved to read and listen to music and she had a gift with children and young people. Ethel was a school bus driver for many years and every year without fail, her students loved her. Ethel also worked with the children of the church for many years and was by fa the best childrens church teacher there was as she was creative nad fun and always had a funny story to tell. Ethel also was asked to speak at many women's gathering because, despite feelin like she didn't speak well, God really spoke through her. Ethel loved life and worked to always make the most of every situation.
A Memorial Service will be held for Ethel at Sherwood Park Alliance Church on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Presiding over the service will be Pastor Gerry Matheson. Ethel has asked that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to any one of the following organizations; Sherwood Park Alliance Church, 100 Huntley Street, Samaritans Purse, Gideon Bible Society, Mustard Seed Ministry or Compassion Canada for Child Sponsorship. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our friends and family for all of the prayers and support that have come in.
