It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jerry announce his sudden passing at the age of 48 years due to heart issues.
Jerry will lovingly be remembered by his sister, Mona (Darren) Boutin of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; nephews, Darcy of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Shaun Boutin of Edmonton, AB; best friend and partner in crime Mandi Poss (Shauna Rae Sauer) of Kelowna, BC and his newly adopted fur baby and sidekick Gretzky, as well as extended family members and so many dear friends.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents, Barrie and Laurette; and brother Dennis.
He is remembered fondly for so many different reasons for so many people. His humor, his compassion, his intelligence, his involvement in various athletic teams and events like his dragon boat team Tsunami, and of course his devotion to all things Oilers.
Jerry was a proud longstanding Edmonton Oilers season ticket holder and member of the Oilers Nation. He loved treating friends and family to Oilers nights. Win or lose it was always a great time. Most often Jerry was sporting Oilers jerseys, shirts, hats and even locker room purchased runners. Of course, he also loved his pun names. He had just adopted a dog and named it Wine Gretzky (also considered was Bark Messier), and some may be familiar with how he won a hearse from a radio station and dubbed it Darnell Hearse.
Jerry had an ability to light up the room and make everyone laugh. His quick wit, impersonations and sense of humor drew people to him. He had an ability to make everyone feel valued and included and loved to host get togethers and poker nights.
He will be remembered fondly and missed sorely by so very many.
His family will hold a memorial at a later date.
Should you wish to honour Jerry, please donate directly to Berkeley’s Place (http://berkeleysplace.com/) in Jerry/Gretzky’s name in support of rescue animals.
