Kevin was born in Nipawin, SK, to Brian and Sandra Paine. Throughout his childhood, he lived with his parents and siblings, Nancy and Jeffrey, in various parts of Saskatchewan. The majority of Kevin's school years were spent in Ridgedale and Choiceland. During his free time, Kevin could be found at the hockey and curling rinks, and of course, on the football field.
Kevin pursued his post-secondary degrees at the University of Saskatchewan, obtaining a Masters in Chemical Engineering. His successful career as an engineer at Dow in Fort Saskatchewan took him to many different parts of the world. Although humble and quiet, he was very skilled and managed many high profile projects. Indeed, it was a project in Italy, where he met his wife, Valentina. Together they built a life with love and laughter, along with the joys and complexities of raising their son, Patrick in two different countries. Kevin truly cherished every moment spent with them.
His warm smile, kind spirit, intelligence and sense of humor made him endearing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He enjoyed volunteering at the food bank in Fort Saskatchewan, and would schedule his life around this important work.
Kevin loved sports, the outdoors, and simplicity in life. His interests included traveling, hockey, curling, walking, cycling, camping, golfing, hunting and downhill skiing. He was an avid fan of the Oilers as well as the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Kevin was predeceased by his father, Brian Paine; brother, Jeffrey Paine; cousin, Heather Paine; brother in law, Murray Debler; grandparents, Harold and Eva Paine and Peter and Olive Erickson; uncles, Dick, Stanley, and Jim; and his Aunts, Eileen and Marlene.
Kevin’s legacy of love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of: his loving wife, Valentina (Novelli); son, Patrick Paine; sister Nancy Debler (Kevin Seifert), and Maggie Mann, whom he considered a sister; in-laws, Rita and Cesare Novelli; sister-in-law, Federica (Enrico) Ceccarelli; his cherished nephews, Jeff (Melissa) Debler, Kyle (Temesha) Debler, Justin (Amber) Debler and Vittorio Ceccarelli; great niece, Emma; great nephews, Austin and Darrian Debler; as well as numerous loving relatives and friends.
Although his mom, Sandra, is living with Alzheimer's, and may not fully remember, the bonds and the love they shared will always be cherished.
Kevin was truly grateful and loved many in his life, one of which was "his" Auntie Trudy. He was so thankful to have her calm, nurturing presence throughout his life and especially in his final days.
A celebration of life will be held on May 30, 2024, at 12:00pm, at First Memorial Funeral Services - Riverview Chapel in Fort Saskatchewan. A private interment will take place at a later date in Sk.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Food Bank in Fort Saskatchewan or to the Cross Cancer Institute.
