She was the loving mother of Joanne (Tim) Gillrie; Granny to granddaughter Samantha (Keith) Twohig; grandson Mitchell (Riley); and Great Granny to Georgia.
Lilly was survived by her brother, Johnnie (Lorraine), and sister Nell. She also leaves numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends to mourn her passing.
Lilly was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her brothers, Joe, Roy, and Frank; and sisters, Marie and Tess.
Lilly was passionate about her vegetable and berry garden from starting seeds in the winter months to harvesting vegetables and berries in the fall to fill her freezer. After retiring from Safeway Lilly got the travel bug and went to Australia, Galápagos Islands, Thailand, China, Nashville, as well as trips within Canada. She also carried on the tradition of quilting from her mother Annie to keep herself busy during the winter months along with knitting, reading and building many puzzles. She had moved to Calgary to spend more time with Joanne and family, but her heart belonged to Edmonton.
We would like to thank the care staff at the seniors residence for their exceptional care and dedication to Lilly during her time there.
There will be a private family graveside service held at the Fort Saskatchewan Cemetery.
